Frequently Asked Questions
Where do we meet, you ask?
Well, we gather outside of the delightful Pamplemousse store, conveniently situated at 185 Essex Street in the heart of Salem, MA.
What should I wear on this tour?
For the best experience, we recommend wearing comfortable clothes suitable for the weather. Don't forget jackets and umbrellas if necessary. Opt for comfortable walking shoes such as sneakers or tennis shoes; please avoid flip flops or open-toed shoes since we might visit behind-the-scenes brewing areas in certain spots. Remember, cleanliness is crucial, and improper footwear could result in denied access to these areas.
What else should I bring?
Since this is an all-weather walking tour, consider bringing weather-appropriate items like sunscreen, sunglasses, hats, water bottles, umbrellas, or rain jackets. Also, essentials to have include a valid (non-expired) state or government-issued ID, credit card, cash, snacks, and a reusable bag or backpack for any extra purchases you might make during the tour.
Should I pre-game (Drink alcohol beforehand) for this tour?
Absolutely not! This tour will have an abundance of beverages for you to try out. We will be sampling delicious drinks at three different establishments along the way. Please remember to drink responsibly. It is advised to have a satisfying meal beforehand to ensure you have enough energy to fully enjoy the tour and make the most of the day ahead!
Who is this tour for?
This tour is perfect for bachelor/bachelorette groups, girls’/guys’ weekends, friend groups, beer and adult beverage lovers, and anyone who wants to do a tour that doesn’t involve the witchy stuff and things that go bump in the night.
Can I bring my children along?
Unfortunately, we are unable to accommodate children on our tours as we strictly enforce a minimum age requirement of 21 years old for all participants. This policy applies to both drinking and non-drinking tour tickets. Thank you for understanding.
I’m in a wheelchair/handicapped, can I do this tour?
While all of our establishments are wheelchair accessible, it may be difficult to traverse through the city of Salem. Many of the sidewalks are old brick and cobblestone, so the going might be tough on the wheels of your device. Please keep in mind that the tour is 2 miles in length. That said, Salem offers a ride share program called the Salem Skipper for alternative transportation options. For more information, you can visit the Salem Skipper website

Do you do private tours?
Yes we do! Please reach out to us via our contact page.
What if i need to cancel my tour?
Life is unpredictable, and we understand that things come up unexpectedly. If you need to cancel, just let us know at least 24 hours before the scheduled tour time. Unfortunately, we are unable to provide refunds for cancellations made within 24 hours of the tour.
“Tipples & Mash” What is the origin of the name?
Have you ever wondered what exactly a Tipple is? Well, wonder no more! A “Tipple” refers to your chosen favorite drink, for example, she is enjoying several glasses of sherry - her ultimate tipple. After joining our tour, we hope you discover your own cherished tipple among the fantastic brew spots here in Salem.
Onto the next question - What's a mash, you ask? Picture this - they did the mash, they did the monster mash (wait, wrong mash reference!). Here's the scoop: every type of alcohol actually begins its journey as some form of mash! Whether it's beer, cider, mead, wine, rum, or whiskey, it all originates from a simple mash. Our tour is named after the magical change of mashed ingredients into the tasty drink you love.
